Helping You Achieve Online Success through Clear, Practical Advice
Your website can be the most powerful salesperson you employ. It has the unique ability to bring remarkable wealth to your business entirely on autopilot.
Below are my 5 essential guidelines to influence your visitor and increase your sales:
#1 Be Information Rich. People surf the net for information, not to be sold to. They buy as a by-product of receiving great help and solid information. The less information you put on your website the greater chance your visitor won't see what they need and will leave. The remedy is simple, give your visitor every piece of help and information they could possibly need to compel them to make contact.
#2 Get their E-mail Address. You should go all out to get your visitors to leave their e- mail address. It gives you a FREE means of communicating with them FOREVER! And yet the Internet average is that 99% of visitors bounce off websites without making contact - what a wasted opportunity. Put your contact forms absolutely everywhere and give them a great reason to leave their details!
#3 Don't Make ‘em Think! Secretly you want your visitor to do something (buy, make contact, click, whatever). Here's what 99.9% of business don't get - your visitor doesn't mind if you tell them what to do. In fact they'd prefer it! The more obvious and self-evident your website is the more people will love it. (It's what makes Google more successful than Yahoo!) Make sure every pages tell them exactly what you want to do.
#4 Be Personal. "Established in 1806 with 15 offices, we tailor our services and meet our client's needs", etc. Honestly, who cares! Copy like this is everywhere and yet it's proven to have zero sales ability. Harsh though this may sound your visitor is only interested in themselves and not you. So, write about them and how you can help and leave the self-absorbed copy for your competitors!
#5 Put First Things First. 70% of people never scroll down web pages. So, make sure that you put the most important information at the top of your screen in decreasing priority downwards. Don't let your key invitations to action always be at the bottom of the screen.
